G’Day Mike & Petra,
I sometimes wonder whether you ever thought that you would be ambassadors to the world as you have meandered across 3/4 of it!
Well, my friends – you have been!
I envy you – in a gentle way – your accumen (read ‘guts’) as you have done what many of us where/are too timid/unable to undertake for our own perceived reasons.
Your unselfish sharing of your experiences has meant a lot to me, personally, as I can never now do what you have laid before me. I am a bit like a mini-voyeur at this time in my life – and the wonderful (yes – wonderful) pics. are inspiring.
I have had a ‘love’ of old places – particularly Egypt – with which I seem to have had since I was a small child and read of Howard Carter’s exploits – but, I will never see these in person.
Thank you both for seeing them for me!

G’Day Mike & Petra,
It’s been a long time since I caught up with you although I have been watching your journey as usual with great interest.
Health-wise, I have now improved somewhat since the New Year mental and physical slump brought on by trying to please too many people who didn’t really care as long as I performed and jumped through the hoops of their making.
At present I am regaining mastership of my own destiny – and I’ve thrown off the cloak of oppression – well, as much as a well aged, stick-in-the-mud (not from choice) pensioner can. I avoided getting on the depression slope well before it got to that – but I could see the signs.
I am still under medical supervision – but some basic problems were addressed and medication changes made and the doc visits are dispersing to one per month for blood tests..
My German friend, Gunter and I are getting together in a few days for a few Johnny Walkers (after a funeral of a 95 year old mate) and talk about his old days in Dahlem during WWII . He has a new labrador Guide dog to assist him – I want to get introduced.

I have also since relinguished one serious obligations – the military newsletter ‘Artillery News’ – which had lost its glow due to severe interference from ‘up the chain of command’ (I felt I had become editor in name only due to restrictions) – so I have now spread myself a bit thicker over the things I actually like to do – research and writing about numismatics.

Wow! What a wonderful adventure you two have had! And going to India is another one! I loved it there myself. Maybe you will write about that too? I hope so. Not that you would remember, but I am still hoping to walk the Camino again or maybe serve as a hospitaleria on the Via de la Plata–still working on my aweful Spanish and dreaming of the long walk. I have so enjoyed living thru your adventures and the pictures are fabulous! I wish to both of you the best in this new year! However will you top these past two years on the road!?

Congratulations to the two of you on your arrival to Jerusalem.
We hope the new year brings peace and happiness to you both.
After all that travel you must be experts on focusing on today and not so much worried about tomorrow.
Not many of us here are comfortable unless we know where we are going to eat/sleep ahead of time,I give you credit and admire your adventurism.

You will find a way to stop this walking journey of almost two years. You need to find a way to settle and you can still walk where ever you will settle in the world. I am sure you will get a sign where to go.
