Dead Sea/Salt Sea

We continue to flow throughthe Middle East at the rate of a fast mountain stream bouncing from ancient sight to ancient sight. It is good, interesting, and tiring.

After leaving Amman the other day we visited Mt. Nebo where Moses saw the “Promiced Land” and promptly died. We struggled for two hours passing Israeli customs at the border. Then it was on past Jerusalem to Tel Aviv after a quick stop at Jappa.

We went north the next day visiting many places including Nazereth. We stayed in Tiberius on Lake Galilee for that night and the next. That next day we made a circle of several sites north of Lake Galilee returning via the northern Golan Heights where the Syrians liked to shoot down on the Israelies before the 1967 war when the Israelis took it from them. This day started with a boat ride on Lake Galilee for an hour or so.

Today we started with the baptism of several in the Jordan River and then headed down to the sourthern Ded Sea with several stops along the way. We floated in the Dead Sea when we arrived–an odd feeling. Tomorrow it’s on to Jerusalem for three more days.
